Skytran, a U.S. project resulting from the combination between technology companies and Nasa is equipped with the latest technology called SkyTran Magnetic Levitation (Maglev ST). Thanks to this revolutionary technology, SkyTran paves the way for a breakthrough in the field of passenger transportation in medium and short term.
In big cities the effects of high motor traffic on the streets are felt daily, a situation which being far from improving, worsens year after year. Without a lot expectations on the horizon and a large number of promises, the American company SkyTran arrived to offer one of the first viable, concisely alternatives, and briefly, real as well.
It is an innovative mean of public transportation, which is based on magnetic levitation, which consists in the development of a network of elevated transit, in which circulating vehicles, similar to space capsules, can carry up to two people at a speed of 240 Km/h.
Finally, after unfruitful proposals in several countries to carry out a pilot project, Israel decided to experiment this system of modern transportation. The test results will be key to the implementation of this system in other countries.
The project foresees the installation of a closed-circuit, with about 500 meters long, to be implemented at the headquarters of the Israeli Aerospace Industries Company. If successful, a network for commercial circulation it will be installed, which will allow the transport of passengers throughout the city of Tel Aviv.
The system is completely automatic: any passenger can request a vehicle through its smartphone, in order to embark on any chosen station. In total, it’s estimated that approximately 12 thousand people can travel per hour, on each monorail. This number increases exponentially as they build more monorails.
